Panel Nesting

Experiment with panel placement to maximize efficiency

Screen 1 of 2: Answer these questions to create a virtual rendition of the fabric that will be used to nest panels:

Fabric Width (?)
Enter the width of the material -- the length will often be rolled although sheet goods can also serve as a source from which panels will be cut.
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!
Vertical Pattern Match (?)
Leave this field “0” if there is no repeat or pattern matching is not necessary. Fabric patterns sometimes repeat themselves one or more times along the length (running length) of the fabric roll. This repeat, in inches to three decimal places, often listed by fabric manufacture.
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!!
Horizontal Pattern Match (?)
Leave this field “0” if there is no repeat or pattern matching is not necessary. Fabric patterns sometimes repeat themselves one or more times along the width (from selvage edge to selvage edge) of the fabric. This repeat, in inches to three decimal places, often listed by fabric manufacture.
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!!
Enter Desired Panel Lengths:
Left Side (?)
Enter desired finished width for panel’s left hand side
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!
{{data.UofM}}
Bottom Side (?)
Enter desired finished length for panel’s front side.
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!
Right Side
(rectangle defaults) (?)
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!
Top Side
(rectangle defaults) (?)
Enter desired finished length for the panel’s back side. The default will create a rectangle, a length equal to the front side of the panel. This default entry can be modified as needed.
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!
Diagonal (from left-bottom corner to top-right corner)
(rectangle defaults) (?)
This field is calculated automatically by the software. If any two sides opposite are the same, it will calculate a default diagonal that makes the pattern symmetrical. If all the entered figures for left, front, right, and back are unequal, a diagonal will default to create an irregular panel with its lower left corner a right angle (this is useful for creating forepeak cushion panels). If one set of opposite sides is equal, and adjacent sides have one shorter and one longer side (an example is a keystone cushion) the default diagonal will center the remaining shorter side over the longer one. This default entry can be modified as needed. To enter an alternative diagonal measurement, measure the cushions distance from front right to back left corners (B,D to A,E corners) and enter that measurement in this field.
Numbers -- fractions as decimals!
